SAN ANTONIO – A man who police said was armed with a sawed-off shotgun was shot and killed Thursday by a San Antonio police officer on the city's South Side, Chief William McManus said.
Officers were serving a narcotics search warrant around 10 a.m. at a home in the 700 block of Vickers Avenue when the man pointed the shotgun at an officer, McManus said.
An officer fired a shot at the suspect, killing him, McManus said.
The man was in his 30s, McManus said.
Five other people who were in the home were taken into police custody, McManus said.
It wasn't immediately known what they will be charged with.
"All the procedures were followed," McManus said. "The officers were highly identifiable. They went in the door and as soon as they walked in, the suspect pulled the sawed-off shotgun."
