SAPD: Man groomed teen runaways to have sex with men

Demethrius Joseph, 21, charged with human trafficking; Call to Child Protective Services tips off police

SAN ANTONIO – Converse police arrested a man and charged him with two counts of human trafficking of a person under 18 for prostitution.

Demethrius Joseph, 21, is accused of grooming two 17-year-old runaways to have sex with men for money.

According to an arrest affidavit, on July 10 one of the victims called her Child Protective Services caseworker and told her she had been sexually assaulted and was being forced to have sex with men for money at an East Side motel.

The caseworker went to the motel, where she found and removed the victim. Police were called and found the second girl inside a room with Joseph and two other men.

Police said Joseph took provocative pictures of the teens and posted them on a popular website advertising escorts. He allegedly advertised a "2 girls special" on the site. Police also found messages between the victims and clients as well as hotel locations on their cellphones.

Investigators also recovered motel receipts showing that Joseph had rented the motel room for nearly a month.
