Moreno's arrest comes less than a month after he was at the center of a love triangle involving his ex-girlfriend and Nicollette Muniz, a fellow SAPD officer.

Muniz, who was off duty at the time of her arrest, went to the couple's home April 19 to confront the ex-girlfriend over a dispute related to Moreno, 34.

The ex-girlfriend said she had a four-year relationship with Moreno.

He supposedly had been having an affair with Muniz, 29, since November but the ex-girlfriend thought it had ended, according to previous KSAT.com reports.

Police arrested Muniz that morning and charged her with assault causing bodily injury. She was later released from the Bexar County Jail after posting a $3,500 bond.

On May 2, a family member called the police after the woman told them she was assaulted by Moreno and shared images to support her claim.

Despite refusing to talk to investigators on Tuesday, the woman called the police the next day and claimed Moreno had been stalking her, according to an arrest affidavit.

She said that, while she was working out at a local gym, Moreno walked in, took her phone and then walked out while trying to unlock it.

After several failed attempts to unlock the phone, Moreno told his ex-girlfriend that "he was not going to leave her alone and that he knows where she lives and where she works and that he wasn't going to stop," the affidavit said.

When the woman told him that their relationship was over, Moreno told her that "he didn't care (and) that he was going to end up doing something stupid and he was" going to kill her, according to the affidavit.

The woman told police she began ignoring Moreno's texts and when she later went home, she looked out her window and saw him in his car in her driveway.

SAPD told KSAT.com that Moreno had been on administrative duty since May 6 following the April incident, but is now on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

Additional charges are possible, SAPD said.

According to online records, Moreno was released Thursday after posting a $15,000 bond.

San Antonio Police Department Chief William McManus released the following statement regarding the arrest:

"The allegations against this officer are disturbing especially in light of all the recent focus on domestic/dating violence. Simply put, this behavior is not acceptable and will not be tolerated by any member of the San Antonio Police Department."
