Woman mistakenly shot in domestic incident on West Side

Shooting reported in 800 block of North San Marcos

SAN ANTONIO – A man who police said apparently wasn't happy about his ex-girlfriend talking to another man opened fire Monday on a group of people, hitting another woman, authorities said.

The shooting was reported shortly before noon in the 800 block of North San Marcos.

Police Chief William McManus said the man came upon a group of people and tried to shoot a man who was talking to his ex-girlfriend, but missed his intended target.

A woman in her 20s was shot, suffering a wound to her hip, McManus said. She was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center and is expected to be OK.

The accused shooter, a man in his 20s, took off in a red Camry, McManus said.

Detectives are obtaining a warrant for his arrest, McManus said.
