SAN ANTONIO – A robber who found the doors locked at a Northwest Side Papa John's reportedly tried to shoot his way inside by taking aim at the front glass door.
San Antonio police said he was unsuccessful, but workers inside the pizza shop located in the 2300 block of NW Military were shaken by the incident.
They told officers that a man in a red shirt with a red bandana covering his face fired at least one shot at the glass doors shortly before 10 p.m Thursday when he was unable to open them because they were locked for the night.
He was unable to penetrate the doors enough to enter the business, police said
By Friday morning, the only sign of the violence was a tiny mark on the interior metal frame from where a bullet might have hit.
Police said the gunman left Papa John's without getting any cash.
However, about ten minutes later, police said they received a report of a robbery at a Little Caesars pizza shop located at Wurzbach Road and Vance Jackson.
Officers at the scene said the robber also wore a red bandana and appeared to match the description of the man who shot at the Papa John's doors.
The robber got away with an unknown amount of money, police said. No injuries were reported.
