Garney Construction is the lead builder of the pipeline, which will deliver water to San Antonio from Burleson County.

Construction is expected to wrap up in 2020. Garney will own the pipeline for the first 30 years with SAWS taking over ownership for another three decades after that.

“This is a big project and a major accomplishment for the San Antonio community and region,” Donovan Burton, vice president of Water Resources, Conservation and Governmental Relations, said. “This project is a model for national and international public-private water partnerships.”

Vista Ridge is a 140-mile water pipeline project that’s once completed would provide the largest non-Edwards Aquifer supply in San Antonio city history.
