Senate to vote on Castro's HUD secretary nomination Wednesday

SAN ANTONIO – The Senate is scheduled to vote on Mayor Julian Castro's nomination for Department of Housing and Urban Development secretary Wednesday.

A spokesperson for Illinois Senator Dick Durbin's office confirmed the vote will be Wednesday afternoon.

There will be two minutes for debate prior to the vote.

Nearly two weeks ago, the Senate banking community approved Castro's nomination.

When Castro assumes his new role in Washington, current city council members will then formally inform the city clerk they would like to fill the mayor's seat.
