SATX Social Ride members meet every week for a bike ride through downtown, but the mood will be different during the tribute. Riders were asked to take candles, flowers, balloons or whatever they could to add to Marconi's memorial at Public Safety Headquarters.

The stop at headquarters, during the nine-mile ride, will include a moment of silence for Marconi.

Jeff Moore started the social ride group about four years ago. It's continued growing ever since. Most Tuesdays, around 250-300 people ride the streets of San Antonio for exercise and companionship.

"I think it's important for our riders and just people in general to get out and express their grief," Moore said. "Everybody's taking this personally."

Those riding must have lights on their bikes for safety reasons. More than 150 people expressed interest in the ride of remembrance on Facebook .
