SOUND OFF: Is the term "Redskins" derogatory?

U.S. Patent office cancels trademark for team

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office canceled six trademarks belonging to the Washington Redskins football team on Wednesday, saying they are offensive to Native Americans.

The move would make it harder for the team to claim ownership of its brand and go after people who make unlicensed merchandise.

The team has faced growing pressure to change its name, which many consider to be a slur against Native Americans. The team has had the name and logo since 1933, when it was based in Boston.

Do you think the term "Redskins" is derogatory? And should the team change its name?
