Jacob Lee Galvan, 28, arrested on suspicion of murdering James Agustin Valdez

SAN ANTONIO – A stabbing victim's final words may have led to the arrest of his alleged killer, court documents state.

James Agustin Valdez, 26, was stabbed to death on Friday at home in the 5800 block of Valley Forge, an arrest affidavit states. Before he died, Valdez reportedly called 911 and told the dispatcher "Jacob Galvan did it."

Jacob Lee Galvan, 28, was arrested Saturday on suspicion of murdering Valdez.

According to an affidavit, investigators recovered surveillance footage from a nearby home that showed Valdez running from a home on Valley Forge. Seconds later, a man and woman are seen running to a white car parked at the curb, then driving away, the affidavit states.

Valdez called 911 and knocked on a neighbor's door for help, court documents state. Investigators said the woman told them that he had a stab wound to his back. She said she heard him tell investigators his name, age and who had stabbed him before telling her that he was "bleeding out inside" and was struggling to breathe.

When first responders arrived, they said they found Valdez in the front yard of a nearby home bleeding profusely. He was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center where he later died.

Another witness identified Galvan as Valdez's killer, telling investigators that Galvan was arguing with Valdez when he went to the kitchen, grabbed a knife and stabbed Valdez in the back, court documents  state.

The witness said he didn't know why they were arguing, but described Valdez as being "in a rage."

A detective for the San Antonio Police Department listened to the audio of Valdez's 911 call and confirmed that Valdez identified his killer as Jacob Galvan, court documents state.

Authorities arrested Galvan Saturday.

Online records show Galvan has a lengthy criminal history, with at least seven arrests dating back to 2007.
