McCray had been wanted since the shooting early Sunday that police say caused "chaos" along the popular entertainment district.

The shooting took place around 2:15 a.m. on Sixth at Brazos Street.

Authorities say he was likely aiming for someone else when a bullet struck and killed a 30-year-old woman who was downtown with her wife. Three other women were also hospitalized.

The Austin-American Statesman reported McCray's intended target was his brother-in-law Chris McCutcheon.

A judge this week signed a warrant and set bond for McCray at $2 million.

Court documents show that a witness told police that McCray pulled a handgun out of his waistband and began firing after being shoved by another man.
