Rodeo community ropes in donations for families of victims in Texas church shooting

Bull-riding benefit held in Stockdale

STOCKDALE, Texas – The rodeo community is roping in donations for the families of the victims in the Sutherland Springs church shooting.

A bull-riding benefit was held in Stockdale, less than 10 miles east of Sutherland Springs.

Robert Kunz worked with Brandy Flores to put the entire event together in about two and a half weeks.

Communities came together to donate their time, livestock and supplies to help raise money for the victims.

Twenty-six people were killed and many others were injured in the Nov. 5 shooting. Flores said many still need help during the healing process.

Kunz and Flores said the recovery process will take years for Sutherland Springs. That’s why they hope to bring back the bull-riding event next year, in another effort to help raise money for those impacted.
