Texas man arrested in 32-year-old murder case

Crime stoppers tip leads police to Robert Armendariz

KERRVILLE – A Texas man was arrested Tuesday in Duncanville for a slaying more than 30 years old.

Robert Armendariz, 60, has been a fugitive since Delbert Wyatt was killed in 1982, Kerr County Sheriff's Officials said.

On Sept. 6, 2014, the Kerr County Sherriff's office received a Crime Stoppers tip that led authorities to Armendariz.

Kerr County sheriff's officials traveled to North Texas and arrested Armendariz with the assistance of the U.S. Marshal Service, the Grand Prairie and Duncanville police departments.

Kerr County Sherriff Rusty Hierholzer said he is very proud of the agencies that worked together to accomplish this arrest, and he is especially proud of the Kerr County Crime Stoppers program.

"This was one of the very first murder cases that I was involved in and it is extremely satisfying to see an arrest being made," Hierholzer said. "This is the third cold case that that the department has solved. It just shows the determination of all our officers to never quit on any investigation."

Armendariz will be transferred back to Kerrville at a future date and housed in the Kerr County Jail.

No other details surrounding the case have been made available.
