NEW BRAUNFELS – The New Braunfels Police Department has a set of attention-grabbing hot wheels, courtesy of a drug dealer.

The department unveiled the Corvette police cruiser, Coptimus Prime, on Facebook Friday morning hoping to clarify any misconceptions the community may have about the car.

The department stated the car was actually not as new as many may think, having hit the road with New Braunfels Police Department logos in 2015 after it was seized from a drug dealer.

While the department has made good use of the car, from parades to school visits, the ultimate goal is to auction off the car. The money from that auction will be used to further other community outreach programs, the department said in a Facebook post.

In the mean time, the sports car will continue to be a staple at community events.
