DALLAS - Texas rapper Yella Beezy has been hospitalized after being shot while driving on a highway north of Dallas.

Police tell the Dallas Morning News the rapper, whose real name is Deandre Conway, was driving on the Sam Rayburn Tollway in Lewisville early Sunday when someone in a vehicle pulled up next to him and opened fire.

The shooter fired more than a dozen times, striking Conway, 26, three times.

He was transported to the hospital, but was alive and breathing, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Capt. Dan Rochelle says police have not determined a motive, and no arrests have been made.

The rapper opened for Beyonce and Jay-Z when their tour stopped near Dallas in September.

Yella Beezy was recently profiled by Rolling Stone after his single “That's On Me" rose to the No. 1 record spot this summer for mainstream rap/R&B radio.
