SAN ANTONIO – With the 125th Fiesta underway, the Fiesta Commission wants everyone to enjoy the events and get home safe. That's why it's promoting the eighth annual Fiesta Safe Rides program.
"(We're) reminding people to make a plan," said Amy Shaw, executive director of Fiesta San Antonio. "We should be able to have a good time. It's just if you get behind the wheel after you have been drinking, it not just your life that is in jeopardy, it's innocent lives, too."
Yellow Cab and Uber are offering incentives to Fiesta-goers.
A $10 discount on a Yellow Cab prepaid taxi card is available at The Fiesta Store at 2611 Broadway, Yellow Cab Offices and some Fiesta events. More details are available via the Yellow Cab app.
"There is no use in endangering yourself or anyone around you," said John Bouloubasis, Yellow Cab president. "We want them to go have fun and enjoy their time and not have to worry about how (they are) going to get home."
The Fiesta Safe Rides program posts a new Uber promo code on its website each day during Fiesta. The offer is good for a free ride up to $10. It's valid from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. daily within a quarter-mile of Fiesta events serving alcohol. Check out the program's website for the daily code and a list of pickup locations.
New Uber users can get a $20 credit for signing up during Fiesta with the promo code "FIESTA16."
