VIA hoping to woo new passengers with free rides on Valentine's Day

Fare-free service is for the Primo 103 line

SAN ANTONIO – VIA Metropolitan Transit is hoping to attract new bus riders by offering free service all day Thursday on its newest high-frequency line.

The Primo 103 Zarzamora line connects Crossroads Park & Ride to Madla Transit Center. The buses stop every 12 minutes along Fredericksburg and Zarzamora during peak times.

"Primo buses have transit signal prioritization that communicates with the city's traffic system," according to a VIA press release.

The Primo buses and bus stops have free WiFi and real-time arrival data.

In addition to Thursday's free rides, VIA also has a contest aimed at revving up interest in the high-frequency bus lines. The "Fall in Love with Transit" promotion offers riders a chance to win gift cards, a monthly pass and other prizes for sharing their love for Primo on social media. You can read more about that contest here.
