Ashford was shot six times by William Perkins Jr., 39, a police report said. Perkins was arrested and charged with murder.

The victim confronted Perkins around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday in the parking lot of an East Side strip mall in the 200 block of South W.W. White Road, when Perkins opened fire, police said.

Perkins, who called police about the shooting, was apparently having an affair with Ashford's wife, police said.
