SPRING BRANCH, Texas – An expected river rise of 30 feet at the Guadalupe River State Park has closed portions of the park on a busy holiday weekend.

The park was filled with campers for the busy Memorial Day weekend.

Rains upstream are expected to cause the river to rise 30 feet Sunday.

All trails at the park have been closed. Kayaking, swimming and canoeing has also been prohibited.

A park employee said picnicking in the lower area is not allowed and in the event of severe flooding the day-use area maybe closed at well.

That same employee also said none of the campers have been evacuated.

Overnight the Guadalupe River rose more than 25 feet in Comfort, before cresting at moderate flood stage.
