Windows boarded, cars damaged after hailstorm hits Helotes

Hailstorm wreaks havoc on San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO – A lot of people were working to clean up and secure their homes Wednesday after Tuesday night's storm ripped through pockets of the city.

Joe and Brenda Davis in the Cedar Springs subdivision in Helotes spent the morning boarding up their windows and covering their busted windshields.

They said the hail was so bad it was like someone threw baseballs through their windows.

"It kind of got louder and louder," Brenda Davis said. "And you could kind of tell it was coming from the one side of the house, so we just backed away from it and all three windows busted out."

Everyone on their street was left with a mess.

"We came out last night after the hailstorm stopped," Joe Davis said. "People were walking up and down the street, assessing damage to their own houses and their cars, and I don't think there was a household in the block that there wasn't someone out here in the street."

Randy Laschober, who also had damage, said the neighbors pulled together to help each other out.

"All the friends came over and helped clean out the cars of all the glass and water damage, so it's a great charity," Laschober said. "Definitely a good sign. I'm very pleased and happy."
