Woman fatally shot on East Side

SAPD: Victim shot breaking up fight after apparent carjacking

SAN ANTONIO – A woman was killed Thursday evening in a shooting on the city's East Side.

Officers responded to the 200 block of Brooks Street just after 7 p.m.

Officials said individuals involved in a carjacking Wednesday came back to the scene Thursday and a fight ensued.

Police said the 47-year-old woman attempted to break up the fight when she was shot and killed.

"This apparently involved a carjacking that occurred yesterday, and there was a confrontation between a couple residents and some young males that had returned to the scene (that were) involved in that carjacking," San Antonio Police Department Lt. Scott Bell said.

She was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center, but later died.

Witnesses reported seeing the suspects flee the scene in an older-model gray car.

Police took several juveniles in for questioning. Some of the juveniles are witnesses and some are suspects in the shooting.
