Woman found dead in Live Oak home; husband being questioned

Woman's husband questioned by police about her death

LIVE OAK, Texas – A woman was found dead Tuesday and her husband has been taken into police custody and being questioned about her murder, authorities say.

Live Oak police arrived in the 200 block of Lost Forest in Live Oak around 8:30 a.m.

What started as a welfare check on the woman by one of her relatives ended with the discovery of her body.

Police said SWAT officers were brought in after no one answered the front door after several attempts.

When officers made their way in, they found the husband and the body of his wife, police said.

"He failed to follow verbal commands, but other than that we were able to take him into custody without any resistance," Lt. Matt Malone said.

Police said the couple, who is in their 30s, have three children, but they were not home at the time and are in a safe location.

Although the husband is in police custody and is being questioned, he has not been charged for his wife's death. Police have yet to release the name of the victim or the cause of her death.
