Woman shot, killed inside apartment

SAPD: Carmen Herrera, 33, shot multiple times, 'execution style'

SAN ANTONIO – Carmen Herrera, 33, was fatally shot inside her West Side apartment late Sunday night, San Antonio police said.

SAPD investigators said gunshots were reported around 10 p.m., but Herrera's body was not discovered until around midnight inside her apartment at Dartmouth and San Joaquin Avenue near Culebra and General McMullen Drive.

According to police, Herrera's mother couldn't get in touch with her Sunday night, so she went to her daughter's apartment and found the door had been forced open.

Police said Herrera was on the floor inside her bedroom. She had been shot numerous times in the head.

Investigators are attempting to locate witnesses and gather information on a possible motive.

Investigators also said they're looking for a black, four-door Hyundai Sonata with the license plate DHG1763 in connection with the shooting.
