SAN ANTONIO - A local woman who says she was viciously attacked by her husband in front of her daughter's school spoke to KSAT about her ordeal.

Terry Barron says she went to Bonham Academy to pay her daughter's lunch money, when her husband, Robert Barron 38, stabbed her more than 30 times.

The incident happened back in August as Barron was preparing to serve her husband with divorce papers.

"I never thought he was going to do this," Barron said. "It's been difficult. I wasn't able to get out of bed in the beginning, but every day I'm getting stronger. My recovery has been difficult."

The couple had been married for 19 years, but were living apart as divorce proceedings began.

Barron said she sustained injuries to her arms, hands, heart, and other arteries and had to undergo numerous surgeries in the days following the attack.

"I thank God every day that I'm alive, because they really thought I wasn't going to make it," Barron said.

Now attending physical therapy every day, Barron is unable to continue her job as a registered nurse, but hopes to someday regain full use of her arms and hands.

Friends and family will be holding a BBQ fundraiser for Barron on Saturday, November 17, from noon-6pm at Sanchez Icehouse #1, 819 S. San Saba.

A donation fund has also been set up at Wells Fargo, under Barron's name.
