SAN ANTONIO – Dogs and cats with no place to call home have always been a problem in San Antonio.

The San Antonio Humane Society partnered with the North Shore Animal League America on Sunday for an adoption event to help pets find their forever home.

A mobile pet adoption unit came to the Alamo City to help shelters bring more attention to the homeless pet problem.

Overcrowding has long been an issue at city shelters.

“Adopt an animal, rather than go shop for one. It's a lot more rewarding that way. It's almost like being reunited with a family member when you adopt,” said Ken Chan, an organizer of Sunday’s event.

The North Shore Animal League said it has been able to place more than a million pets into new homes.
