Zoo Life: Some don't like it hot!

Staff at Oregon Zoo working hard to keep animals cool

PORTLAND, Oregon – To live in South Texas belies the fact that, contrary to our rather quick ability to complain about the heat, we do like it hot.

But for the folks that live in the Pacific Northwest, people enjoy the area because it is usually void of such extreme heat.

This week, however, it is a different story. High temperatures in Portland, Oregon, have exceeded the century mark.

People are taking their precautions against the heat, but staff at the Oregon Zoo is also making sure their furry friends stay cool.

The facility has closed early to keep patron out of the high temperatures, while extra dips in the pool and plenty of ice is helping the creatures cool off.

Below you can watch the video the zoo has posted on its social media pages.
