How to pick the best sunscreen this summer

SAN ANTONIO – You know that wearing sunscreen is key during summer months, but with so many options available, how do you choose the best one?

Dr. Muhammad Almouie, with Almouie Pediatrics, said there are ways to keep kids burn-free, even on the hottest days of summer.

“Higher SPF doesn’t mean more protection,” he said. “In fact, the majority of children and adults can wear SPF 30–50 and be well protected from the sun’s rays."

Almouie recommended re-applying sunscreen every two hours, whether your sunscreen is waterproof or not.

Almouie Pediatrics, which has three San Antonio locations, provides sports physicals and back-to-school immunizations, in addition to checkups and annual physicals.

The clinic is having a block party to celebrate the grand opening of the new Helotes office, located at 9708 Business Pkwy, Ste. 118, Helotes, TX 78374.

The block party will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, so stop by for music, food, and fun!
