SAN ANTONIO – With a camera on every cellphone, it’s easier than ever to take a picture! But how do you take your skills to the next level -- or even become a professional?
David Trust, the CEO of the Professional Photographers of America, said his organization is hosting its third annual event called Imaging USA that will bring thousands of professional and amateur photographers to San Antonio.
“We have a lot of enthusiasts, and certainly enthusiasts are welcome, but this event caters to professional photographers,” Trust said.
Professional Photographers of America bills itself as the world's largest nonprofit photography association organized for professional photographers by professional photographers. Its mission is to "create a vibrant community of successful professional photographers by providing education, resources and industry standards of excellence.”
Imaging USA runs through Tuesday at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center.
Trust called the conference a “mecca” for photographers.
“It’s their pilgrimage every year where they come to practice and to get better, to learn, to be inspired, to just be better photographers and business people all the way around,” he said.
He said attendees come to learn the art of photography, the technical aspects of photography and the business of photography.
Trust said the event will also feature an exhibit of more than 3,000 award-winning images, in addition to demonstrations and education about drone photography.
