Did you know that San Antonio is home to multiple NFL players?
That's right!
Athletes from around the Alamo City have been drafted into the NFL for decades.
The oldest player being Kyle Rote who attended Jefferson High School, played at SMU and went on to play 11 seasons for the New York Giants starting in 1951.
Check out some of Rote's NFL accomplishments:
- Won an NFL Championship
- Played in 4 Pro Bowls
- Scored 52 touchdowns
- Caught 300 passes
- Accumulated 5,668 yards both receiving and rushing
Rote is considered one of the greatest New York Giants to play the game.
Other players include Randy Johnson from Sam Houston HS, Tommy Nobis from Jefferson HS, Marvin Upshaw from Trinity University and many others.
The most recent player to get drafted is Marcus Davenport from the University of Texas - San Antonio.
Marcus got selected in the first round as the 14th pick by the New Orleans Saints and is projected to do big things in the NFL and make our city proud.
