RECIPE: Crispy Brussels Sprouts

Make a side dish sure to satisfy even the pickiest of eaters

SAN ANTONIO – Who knew Brussels Sprouts could be so good?

First deep fry about a quarter of a pound of Brussels Sprouts for about a minute

  • You can also cook them in a skillet with extra-virgin olive oil

Then cook the Brussels leaves and let them cook for 10 to 15 seconds

Remove both from heat after cooking for the appropriate amount of time

  • Be careful not to overcrowd the fryer or frying pan

Add 3 tablespoons of maple syrup and 1/4 cup of extra virgin olive oil as a glaze

Place it all in the skillet

Top it off with the cooked leaves

Add a 1/2 teaspoon of salt

Add 4 slices of bacon cut up into 1/2 inch pieces
