Star helps SeaWorld educate public about bald eagles

SAN ANTONIO - Star is an American bald eagle and an animal ambassador at SeaWorld San Antonio.

She’s still young, only 4 years old, and bald eagles don’t develop the distinguishing white plumage and bright yellow beak until around ages 5 to 7.

Star was rescued in Florida when she was 6 weeks old after falling out of her nest during a storm.

After assessing her condition and noting that Star was nearly blind in one eye, it was determined that she wouldn’t be a good candidate to return to the wild.

Through partnerships with the Fish and Wildlife service, Star came to be an animal ambassador at SeaWord San Antonio.

Fun fact: Star was fully grown when she was rescued at 6 weeks and already weighed 10 pounds!
