Free resources for diabetes prevention at SA Metro Health

City of San Antonio received the 2018 (RWJF) Culture of Health prize

SAN ANTONIO – Did you know that 29 million Americans have diabetes?

San Antonio Metro Health is teaming up with a free program about diabetes prevention and control.

The City of San Antonio was one of four recipients to be awarded the 2018 Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) Culture of Health Prize. 

The prize is worth $25,000 that will help fund resources and health programs to the community.

"This recognizes the cities innovative ideas to promote health and wellness and the equal opportunity it's providing everyone throughout the community," said Amanda Manzello, management analyst. 

Metro Health offers free programs whether you’re at risk for diabetes or you’ve had diabetes or other chronic diseases.

The free workshops throughout the city provide information and support on healthy eating.

  • Tips to read food labels
  • Tips for physical activities
  • Stress management classes
  • Relaxation techniques
