Momdays: Summer Parenting Hacks

By Jennifer Struski - Producer/Multi-Media Journalist

SAN ANTONIO - As summer continues, parent hacks can help make life easier. Here are a few ideas from professional nanny and blogger at Strollers and Confetti, Jada Pickett.

1. DIY Sand Sensory
If you want to have a fun D-I-Y sensory box, you can get a plastic container from Target or H-E-B and add some colorful sand and go with any theme--mermaids, construction or a simple beach idea. According to Pickett, this is also "great for their sensory skills" and "customizable to any theme."

2. Shower Caddy for Road Trips
A simple shower caddy can turn into a road trip savior! Jada says you can pack activities for each child with easy access, and they can stay organized as well. "You can also use them for fast food. Just put the fries and burger and drink in the caddy and put it on their lap," Jada said.

3. Stickers on Birthday Party Cups
You can buy solid color paper or plastic cups and just add sticker to go along with your party theme.
"This is an inexpensive alternative to keep the theme with dollar store cups and stickers," Jada says.

4. Pool Noodle Toddler Bed Bumpers
If you're transitioning your toddler away from  the crib, you can put pool noodles under the sheets to create a safety bumper to prevent them from falling.

5. Painting with Water
"It's an easy way to keep your little ones busy," Jada said. All you need is a piece of wood, a paint brush and some water. You can let your child paint with water and explain evaporation to them too. This is ideal for a mess-free toddler play date.
