Firetrucks, ladders, retired veterans and more!

SAN ANTONIO - Stop, Drop, and Roll to the San Antonio Fire Museum!

Why a San Antonio Fire Museum?

In a city with such a rich and diverse history it can be difficult to see all that their is to explore. The San Antonio Fire Department doesn't immediately come to mind when thinking about San Antonio's history but the history is incredible none the less. To make sure that everyone could see where the SAFD has been and how it got to where it is now the city put together the San Antonio Fire Museum!

Inside the Museum

The museum is open to anyone with an interest in diving into the past of the San Antonio Fire Department. It's run by retired fire fighter volunteers that love to give personal stories and answer all the questions you have to ask. The museum is loaded with old school fire trucks, hoses, sirens, ladders, helmets and anything else you can think of!

Mikes tour was led by a special tour guide, Museum President Jim Wueste. When asked what has remained the same and what has changed Jim spoke about the fire fighters themselves. To him the trucks can change, procedures can adapt but the fire fighters themselves have remained a constant. Next month is fire prevention month and in honor of that special time they're offering free admission on October 13th. Stop by for yourself anytime Tuesday - Saturday from 10a-4p to explore all their is to see about the San Antonio Fire Department.
