SAN ANTONIO – USAA will serve as the official military appreciation sponsor for the 300th anniversary commemoration, the Tricentennial Commission announced Thursday.
USAA, which has served military members since 1922, will be an integral part of the celebrations through 2018.
“San Antonio continues to benefit from USAA’s values and investment in our communities," Mayor Ron Nirenberg said. "(USAA is) helping to commemorate our milestone and the fundamental role the military has played in the development of our city and county.”
Stuart Parker, the CEO of USAA, said the company is looking forward to paying tribute to the city's legacy and honoring veterans, active service members and their families.
USAA has made an investment of $500,000 in the Tricentennial to ensure the city and Bexar County's military legacy is incorporated into all aspects of the commemoration, including the New Year's Eve kickoff.
During Commemorative Week, Military Day activities will showcast active duty military and past and present missions of Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston, Lackland Air Force Base, Randolph Air Force Base and Camp Bullis.
