SAN ANTONIO – The city of San Antonio celebrated Global Running Day with a special announcement.

The Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon San Antonio is offering its lowest registration prices.

People can sign up for the half-marathon for about $59.99, plus $9.99 in fees, and $80 for the full-marathon.

The deal is only for Wednesday.

San Antonio City Manager Sheryl Sculley helped make the announcement at Hemisfair Plaza. She was joined by marathon pioneer Kathrine Switzer, who was the first woman ever to run the Boston Marathon.

Switzer spoke about how important it is to get up and move.

The marathon is set for Dec. 2 and 3.

It will be race's 10th birthday here in the Alamo City, and to celebrate, the event will be the official kick-off for the city's tricentennial celebration.
