Thousands of students to receive school supply kits in Back to Basics project

SAN ANTONIO – Kids are back in school, and thousands of students are in need of school supplies each year.

SA YES, the largest distributor of school supplies in South Texas, will be making school supply distributions at San Antonio ISD, South San Antonio ISD, Edgwood ISD, and Harlandale ISD and Thomas J. Henry is one of the partners that help make these events possible.

SA YES will provide Title 1 elementary school students in kindergarten through fifth grade with the school supplies they need to start the new school year as a result of the Back to Basics project.

"We reach Corpus Christi, San Antonio and Austin," said Thomas J. Henry. "We have 40,000 kids that we are providing these school supplies to this year."

On Aug. 27, Henry assisted with a special school supply distribution at Morril Elementary School, where 450 students received school supply kits.

"I get involved because I know how important education is for everybody," Henry said. "It all starts from a very, very young age, and reinforce that education at a young age is a foundation."

Each school supply kit includes colored pencils, crayons, notebook paper, an eraser, a glue stick, folders, pencils, a ruler, ballpoint pens and a box of tissues.
