The San Antonio Stars selected Notre Dame All-American Kayla McBride with the third pick in Monday night's WNBA Draft.
The 5-11 McBride averaged 17.6 points, 5.3. rebounds and 3.8 assists per game this season for the Irish, who lost to UCONN in the women's National Championship Game.

McBride is considered to be a lethal mid-range shooter who blossomed into a solid ball-handler and passer during her senior season.
McBride is the Stars highest draft pick since 2007. The franchise also selected center Astou Ndour and guard Bri Kulas in the second and third rounds.
San Antonio opens its season on May 16 in Atlanta. They play their home opener against Tulsa the next day.
