Spurs control their playoff destiny

Win over New Orleans gives Spurs No. 2 seed; Loss drops them to No. 6

SAN ANTONIO – Playoff seeds will be on the line for the San Antonio Spurs when they visit the New Orleans Pelicans in the final game of the regular season Wednesday night.

It's simple for the men in silver and black. Defeat the Pelicans and they get the No. 2 seed and home court advantage in the first round of the playoffs. Lose and they drop all the way to No. 6 and start the playoffs on the road.

The Spurs have only defeated the Pelicans once in three tries this season. In their only win, it took a last second tip-in by Tim Duncan to force overtime.

The Spurs will be without the services of Tiago Splitter and Matt Bonner for the regular season finale. Both players are suffering from tight calves.

Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said this week that Splitter may not be back for the start of the playoffs.
