Popovich: ‘I just count the rings'

Spurs head coach doesn't mind not being considered ‘super team'

LAS VEGAS – Speaking to reporters during the NBA summer league, Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich said he is not worried how outsiders view the Spurs.

In an article by Marcus Thompson with the Mercury News, Popovich said he doesn’t worry about being labeled a super team.

“I just count the championships,” he said.

Popovich has been head coach of the Silver and Black since 1996.

Since that time he has lead the team to NBA championships in 1999, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2014.
