Judson girls take on Duncanville tonight in state tournament at Alamodome

Judson making first appearance in UIL state tournament, tipoff at 8:30 p.m.

SAN ANTONIO – The Judson High School girls basketball team made history this season by advancing to the UIL State Tournament, and will now face state power Duncanville Friday night at the Alamodome in the 6A state semifinals.

The Duncanville Pantherettes are the reigning state champion and have won the state title three times in the past four years.

Duncanville has won nine state championships in its history and advanced to the state tournament more than 20 times.

This is the first appearance for the Lady Rockets after five previous losses in the regional round of the state playoffs.

The Lady Rockets got over the hump with a 63-56 win over Brandeis in Laredo last week.

Judson is hoping playing at the Alamodome in front a home crowd will lift them to the state title game.

This is the third year in a row the Alamodome has hosted the UIL State Tournament for boys and girls basketball.

Judson and Duncanville are scheduled to tip-off at 8:30 p.m. The other 6A semifinal will be played between Houston Cypress Ranch and Pflugerville.

The winners will play for the state championship at 8:30 p.m. Saturday.
