SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Spurs may have come away victorious in Monday night’s game against Texas rival Dallas Mavericks, but the biggest headline was: Tony Parker is back.
After spending seven months rehabbing a torn quad he suffered in Game 2 of the 2017 Western Conference semifinals, Parker finally suited up and even started at his point guard position against the Mavericks.
Shortly after the Spurs defeated the Mavs 115 to 108, Parker said he was a little nervous before tipoff, but it did not take long to get back where he left off last season.
"I just felt great out there," Parker said. "Felt like I had my energy and tried to do what I do best and try to help the team. I'm happy we won; a little worried in the first half but it was a great comeback."
For some Spurs fans who attended Monday night’s game, being able to wear Parker’s jersey in honor of his return was the sweetest moment for them after leaving it in the closet for 19 games.
Parker, who was on a time limit playing only a little over 14 minutes, finished 3 of 7 for six points and four assists.
