SAN ANTONIO – Spurs guard Manu Ginobili limped off the court at the AT&T Center after a knee injury scare late in the first quarter of San Antonio’s win over Miami on Wednesday night.

Ginobili went into the arena tunnel, but quickly returned to the bench. He re-entered the game and finished with 10 points in 25 minutes of action.

The injury initially appeared to be serious, but Ginobili said after the game it was nothing major. He was asked about his knee and the crowd’s reaction.

"Knee-to-knee, it was one of those that hurt right there in the moment. It is going to hurt tonight and tomorrow a little bit but it is nothing serious," Ginobili said. "I heard the crowd gasp, usually I don't hear much but I heard an 'oooooooh' and I am glad they still worry about me. It’s a great thing.”

Ginobili said he should be fine for Friday’s home against the Boston Celtics.

Spurs guard Bryn Forbes received a bit of high praise from head coach Gregg Popovich before Wednesday’s game.

Popovich was asked pregame if Forbes reminded him of former Spurs guard Gary Neal, another 3-point specialist.

Popovich, a bit tongue-in-cheek, said, “No. He reminds me of Steph Curry.”

Forbes responded by making 5-of-5 three-pointers en route to 17 points off the bench.

After the game, Popovich talked about Forbes’ progress this season.

"Bryn has come a long way. He spent a couple of years in the D-League, not drafted or anything like that,” Popovich said. "He’s worked, both ends of the court. He is trying to carve out an NBA career and he’s doing very well.

Forbes seemed to be surprised by the comparison after the game.

“Pop said that? I appreciate that,” Forbes said. “I’m just trying to make the right plays, hit the open shots that I get and make all the right plays.”

Forbes, in his second year with the Spurs, is averaging 6.6 points and 16.6 minutes per game.

Those numbers are up from last season when he averaged 2.6 points and eight minutes per game.
