SAN ANTONIO – For the first time since Game 5 of the 2017 Western Conference semifinals, San Antonio Spurs star forward Kawhi Leonard’s name was announced in Monday night’s starting lineup and fans in attendance at AT&T Center could not have been more excited.
Leonard, who missed the first 27 games this season due to a right quadriceps tendinopathy, officially made his return Dec. 12 in Dallas but the season-debut was spoiled by a Spurs loss.
However, after not seeing Kawhi play at home since May 9, the Spurs were not going to let the injury-plagued Los Angeles Clippers ruin Leonard’s home debut in front of the thousands of San Antonio fans who packed the arena Monday.
Despite Leonard playing less than 16 minutes due to minute restrictions and ending the game with only 7 points, the Spurs celebrated his home debut with a 109-91 win over the Clippers.
With much anticipation surrounding Kawhi’s home debut, KSAT’s RJ Marquez figured it was only fitting to ask Spurs fans how excited they were about Leonard’s return and their thoughts on his performance so far this season.
