SAN ANTONIO – Double-A baseball in the Alamo City will last a little while longer. The Missions are headed to the post-season where they will face the Corpus Christi Hooks.
San Antonio had a chance to win the first-half season title back on June 18th when they faced the Hooks. Corpus Christi shutout the Missions that night to win 12-0 as the Missions finished with a 42-28 record.
The Missions will take on the @cchooks in the Texas League South Division Playoffs starting Wednesday in Corpus. Game 3 will be at the Wolff on Friday night 9/7!!! #SAvsCC #LastStand #DefendTheWolff pic.twitter.com/PEUXE6Mq36— San Antonio Missions Baseball Club (@missionsmilb) September 2, 2018
Since then, the Missions have dropped to last place in the Texas League South, with a current 29-38 record. Before showing up to Nelson Wolff Stadium Sunday, the Hooks won the second-half title thanks to Midland's victory over Frisco. It's just the second time in franchise history that the Hooks won the first and second-half titles in the same season.
Thanks to their overall record, the Missions will finish second in the Texas League South and will now face the Hooks in the best-of-five division playoffs.
Games 1 and 2 will be in Corpus Christi beginning Wednesday night. Game 3 will be Friday night at 7:05pm at the Wolff. If necessary, game 4 will be Saturday at the Wolff and game 5 will be Sunday in Corpus Christi.
