Week 6: Big Game Coverage Road Trip from SA Christian School to Austin Crockett

SAN ANTONIO – The sixth week of Big Game Coverage Road trip will start with Austin St. Michael’s Crusaders at the San Antonio Christian School Lions.

Armed with three NCAA Division 1 football prospects in Caleb Durham (undecided), Brandon Richard (Air Force) and Nick Patterson (University of Michigan), the Lions are winless this season.

Head coach and former NFL wide receiver Henry Ellard knows his team is talented, but too many mistakes are hurting the Lions.

"We hit some rough spots," Ellard said. "The thing about it is, it's a process and the big thing is, as you grow and as you go along you learn things. These young men, teaching them what it's all about when it comes to adversity and how you overcome adversity."

Ellard said last week's performance was their biggest fight yet despite not coming out on top.

"We were down early going into halftime, they bounced back in the second half getting within 6 points, but didn't end up winning the game. They showed fight and that was the most important part of that game," Ellard said.

For the Lions, getting a win during homecoming week will be extra sweet. But for senior safety/wide receiver Brandon Richard, this week is also bittersweet.

"It's weird being a senior and having my last homecoming week," Richard said. "It's a little more crazy. A lot more distractions going on, but just being able to focus and being out here with our team, and being able to lock in to get our football stuff done. Once we get that we can have fun."

Quarterback Grant Satcher has two of area’s best receivers in Richard and Durham. The junior signal caller is pumped for what this week has to offer.

"We have a lot of energy coming out this week," Satcher said. "Every day at school it's different. You know everything is up-tempo and we're having a good fun time this week."

Game 1: Austin St. Michael’s Crusaders (2-2) at San Antonio Christian School Lions (0-3-1) at Lions Pride Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. Friday.
