BGC Preview 2018: Alamo Heights Mules

ALAMO HEIGHTS, Texas – The Alamo Heights Mules are hoping experience will be their biggest asset when they kick off their 2018 season on Friday night.

Head coach Mike Norment has as many as 13 starters returning this season, which includes six on offense and seven on defense, led by All-State linebacker Maki Carabin, who led the team in tackles last season with 145 to go along with his three forced fumbles and one interception.

“Defense is big, physical and fast,” said Carabin, who is a senior this season. “The defensive line I can barely see in front of -- linebacker group -- we have two seniors and defensive backs. Safeties know what they are doing as they are athletic too. It’s looking really well.”

On the offensive side of the ball, quarterback Reed Anderson is back after throwing for almost 3,000 yards and 27 touchdowns, along with his two favorite targets, brothers Nik and Aaron Proctor, who combined for 19 of those touchdowns.

“Should expect a lot of fun, a lot of points going on the board, “ said Anderson about what he expects from this year’s squad. “A lot of celebrations. We are pretty loose. We like to have fun.”

The Mules open their season at home. They will host the New Braunfels Unicorns at Orem Stadium. Kick off on Friday is set for 7:30 pm.
