Fans react to UTSA becoming bowl-eligible for first time in program history

Roadrunners defeated Charlotte 49ers Saturday, 33-14

SAN ANTONIO – For the first time in program history, the University of Texas at San Antonio Roadrunners have become bowl-eligible.

UTSA defeated the Charlotte 49ers 33-14, and finished the season 6-6.

Fans took to social media to express their excitement at the historic moment.

David Morgan, the first player from the program ever drafted by an NFL team, tweeted “UTSA is going bowling so proud not only this team but everyone that has been a part of this program, proud to be a roadrunner.”

The Roadrunners could land at several college football bowl games, including:

  • R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl on Dec. 17
  • Gildan New Mexico Bowl on Dec. 17
  • Boca Raton Bowl on Dec. 20
  • Popeye's Bahamas Bowl on Dec. 23
  • Hawai`i Bowl on Dec. 24
  • Camping World Independence Bowl on Dec. 26
  • Zaxby's Heart of Dallas Bowl on Dec. 27
  • 2016 was the sixth year the university has fielded a football program.
