Cyclist tries world record wheelie across US

Will break his own record if he succeeds

The “Wheelie King” is earning his crown.

Kurt Osburn, 49, began his “Wheelie Across America” on Oct. 12 in Santa Monica, California.

He hopes to finish his jaunt of 2,900 miles – on one wheel – in 45 days.

Osburn said it’s a tough task that requires proper upper body strength, and an ability to deal with a sore bottom and back.

He’ll be encased in a square, floorless Plexiglass trailer to protect him from the wind, but rain and potholes are also factors.

Osburn is hoping to break his own 1999 record and said he hopes his feat will inspire young people to put down their phones and make fitness a priority.
