Scholar Athlete: Alissa Tolbert, Marshall High School

SAN ANTONIO - What are you most excited about for your senior year and why?

Graduating. I absolutely cannot wait to play volleyball in college.

What drives you to be successful in the classroom and in your particular sport?

The thing that drives me most in the classroom and in my sport is the thought of being mediocre. I don't want to end practice knowing I could've gone a little harder, or finish a test knowing I could've studied a little bit more. I want to play and learn to my full potential.

How do you balance homework, participation in sports and spending time with family and friends?

When I get home from school, I talk with my family. After that, I go to my room and study until I finish my homework. If I have club practice, then I do as much homework as I can before, and then stay up late finishing the rest. I normally don't have any free time at all, besides on the weekend.

How do you want to be remembered at school once you graduate?

I would like to be remembered as someone who didn't give up and pushed people to do better.

Where do you want to attend college, major in and why?

I'm going to attend St. Mary's University. I'm not sure what I want to major in yet, but I definitely want to go into the medical field.

If you could have one superhero power, what would it be and why?

Reading people's minds. It would be interesting to see what people are thinking about.

If you could take any athlete or celebrity to your senior prom, who would it be and why?

Jim Carrey, because he would make me laugh.
